: a liquid unsaturated alcohol C10H17OH that has a rose scent, that occurs in many essential oils (as neroli, petitgrain, and rose oils), that is prepared from its stereoisomer geraniol, and that is used in perfumery especially in rose and orange blossom scents — compare citral
